Description

In an illegal bar, the New York underworld is hatching sinister plans. The echo of the past holds the identity of their leader, the "Cruel Steve". echoes is a unique, cooperative audio mystery game. With the help of the free Ravensburger echoes app, players hear mysterious sounds and voices that are connected to the card motifs. Together, they put the 24 parts of the story in the right order to solve the case.

The free Ravensburger echoes app is required to play. In the listening mode of the app, players can play the sounds. In the solving mode, players check four cards each for their order to solve chapter by chapter. Finally, players must put the entire story in the correct order to solve the case. For an optimal gaming experience with camera recognition, a device with the following requirements is required: at least iPhone 6s with iOS 12.0 or later / Android device with at least Android 7.0 and compatible with Google Play services for AR (these can be installed later on some devices). An sich faszinierendes Spielkonzept

Natürlich gab es passend zum Spiel Cocktails. Wie es eben zu einem geselligen Spieleabend und dem Titel des Spiels gehört. Doch gerade der Alkohol machte es schwierig dem Spiel zu folgen. Das Hören stand ganz klar im Vordergrund. Dicht gefolgt davon, dass man sich die einzelnen Gesprächsfetzen zumindest teilweise merken sollte. Somit war Ruhe und Aufmerksamkeit gefragt. Was bei unseren Spieleabenden mit Freunden eher zur Seltenheit gehört. Man quatscht ja doch ab und an. Zudem musste immer wieder das Smartphone gehoben und möglichst so gehalten werden, dass die Abbildung auch scanbar war. Licht von oben, Schatten durch das Smartphone und mitunter eine langsam reagierende Kamera, sorgten für unerwarteten Nervenkitzel. Leider einem von der negativen Sorte. Grundlegend ist die Spielidee gut und durchdacht, die Aufnahmen klasse gemacht, aber uns fehlte die Interaktion. Wir spielten knapp 50 Minuten. Mussten eigentlich immer nur hören und daraus schlussfolgern. Was bei dem einen oder anderen Kapitel nicht immer ganz schlüssig möglich war. Denn die Sequenzen waren dann doch etwas zu knapp und wenig aussagekräftig. Insbesondere die Mitspieler, die etwas zum Anfassen brauchten, waren schnell genervt und sorgten für ein etwas unangenehmes Spielklima. Daher würde ich sagen, dass entweder alle Mitspieler für ein solches Spiel aufgeschlossen sein sollten, oder man es am Ende dann doch lieber allein spielen sollte. Mir selbst machte es durchaus Spaß. Nur die Probleme mit der Kamera und eben, dass man immer wieder das Smartphone anhob und wieder ablegte, nervten mich persönlich am meisten. Ich fürchte, dass ich dennoch kein weiteres echoes kaufen würde und eher bei bekannten Krimi-Spielen bleibe. Es war einfach zu viel “Hören”. Eine Kombination aus echoes und EXIT-Game hätte mir tatsächlich besser gefallen.

Which wasn't always possible with one chapter or another. Because the sequences were a bit too short and not very meaningful. The other players in particular, who needed something to touch, were quickly annoyed and made for a somewhat unpleasant playing atmosphere. I would therefore say that either all players should be open to such a game, or it would be better to play it alone in the end. I myself really enjoyed it. It was just the problems with the camera and the fact that you kept picking up and putting down your smartphone that annoyed me the most. I'm afraid that I still wouldn't buy another echoes and would rather stick to well-known thriller games. It was just too much "listening". I would have actually liked a combination of echoes and EXIT game better.
